Wehave been involved in animal welfare research, policy development and management for over two decades. In that time we have been responsible for some fundamental changes in policy and perceptions in regards to wild animal welfare and its management and have provided technical assistance and support to a number of welfare organisations across the world. At this time we are in the final stages of developing a systematic framework intended to overcome the challenges associated with measuring welfare by determining what animals need to have good welfare. This framework has the potential to deliver the greatest advance in welfare management since the introduction of the five freedoms some 50 years ago.
"We believe animal welfare is a fundamentally important consideration in all conservation planning processes. We are able to do more than implement best practice; we routinely establish best practice."
